This paper argues that income inequality explains the variation in economic performance of different countries over first year COVID-19 pandemic. Unlike conclusions reported by some studies, this study shows health casualties caused has had a higher adverse impact on with lower inequality. Notwithstanding, decline growth as well number are, overall, proportionate to level country. Furthermore, results show more dependence service sector and implemented restrictive measures (lockdowns) experienced GDP pandemic period.
